The NS trains are very easy to recognise by their striking design. Alongside cows, grass and windmills, the yellow and blue trains also form part of the Dutch landscape. This Dutch wooden train set was inspired by this distinctive landscape. In addition to the 3-part train and the familiar wooden tracks (12 provided), the set also consists of six recognisable Dutch components, such as canal houses, a windmill, a departure board and a station. The Netherlands' rich history was considered when designing these components.
This set includes:
- Departure board (CTA) with station clock
- Amsterdam Central Station (1881), designed by architect Pierre Cuypers
- The Rembrandt House Museum Amsterdam (1606), home of Rembrandt from 1639 to 1658
- Windmill of Oud-Zuilen (1830)
- Amsterdam canal house with neck gable
- Amsterdam warehouse with funnel-shaped gable

This is a well thought out and unique set, you wont find anything like it elsewhere. Whilst the train and other elements are all instantly recognisable by us the parents, the simple shapes and familiar play invite our adopted son to familiarise himself with his expat Dads heritage. Having the option to epxand on this set with other readily available wooden train sets shows some true Dutch 'handelsgeest' by this designer/entrepreneur. However I would love to be able to expand this set with more Dutch accessories and landscape elements; lets have some, canals, dikes, polders, trams, a poffertjes stand and somewhere to park bikes please!! Well done on your creation, keep up the good work.
